3 Tips For Dressing For Your Acupuncture Appointment

Whether you are getting ready for your first acupuncture treatment or if you have had these treatments done multiple times before, you should make sure that you dress properly for your appointment. Luckily, following these three tips can help you ensure that your clothing does not get in the way when it's time to have acupuncture done.

1. Wear Easy-to-Remove Shoes

You may be asked to remove your socks and shoes during your appointment, so go ahead and prepare for it by wearing shoes that you can easily slip off and on. Shoes that have a lot of zippers or that have to be laced and tied might not be a good choice, and tall boots that might take a moment to put on can also be a hassle. Instead, consider wearing flip flops, sandals or other shoes that you can remove and then put back on without any trouble, if the weather permits. Flats that you slide off and on can also be a good choice.

2. Don't Restrict Access to Your Back

One problem that some people make is wearing clothing that restricts access to the back. For example, a sports bra can cover quite a bit of the back and can make it tough for your acupuncturist to do his or her job. Skip wearing a cami underneath your clothing on the day of your appointment, and choose a bra that covers up as little of your back as possible.

3. Make Sure Sleeves and Pants Legs Can Be Easily Rolled Up

Another thing that you'll want to consider is how easily your acupuncturist can access your legs (up to your knees) and your arms (up to your elbows). If it's difficult for you to roll your sleeves up so that your lower arm can be accessed, or if your pants are too tight to be easily rolled up to your knees, you might have to undress when you would prefer not to. Wear short sleeves if the weather permits (you can always throw on a jacket when you head outdoors!), and choose pants that are loose enough that you can easily roll up the legs if possible.

As you can see, there are a few steps that you should follow when you dress for your acupuncturist appointment. If you give these tips a try, you are sure to find that you are appropriately dressed when you arrive at the acupuncturist's office.
